Educational Video - A Day at the Beach

For our final project, we were instructed to produce some sort of educational video of at least five minutes in length. I shot all of the footage for this video at the beach (developing a newfound respect for nature videographers in the process) and then recorded the audio and edited it all together once we got home; my daughters (ages seven and ten) narrated the video. There's no shortage of interesting things to see at the beach, of course, and the video ended up being over 17 minutes in length.



The point of the video was to have my kids talk about some of the interesting things that they saw or found at the beach in a way that would be both engaging and educational for other kids their age. My kids will take this to school in the fall on a DVD so that they can present it to their classes as a multimedia report on the beach.

 

Video editing was done in iMovie; I used several of the built-in clips provided by Apple for the music. I recorded and edited the audio in Audacity

 

This video was a winner of the coveted Ike Award (from Professor Ikeson Choi), having been chosen as one of the best videos of the class based on both peer feedback and instructor review.
